The Mintaka Foundation for Medical Research was registered in Geneva on October 25th 2005. Since then we have raised over $9 million in funding from donations and grants to support our projects.
Why Mintaka ?
‘Mintaka’ is the sailors’ name for the westernmost of the three stars in Orion’s belt. Among all the bright stars in the sky, Mintaka is the only one to be so close to the Celestial Equator that it is equally visible in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. It therefore symbolizes the vision and aim of the Foundation.
